How are reflections and translations similar? How are they different?

Answer:

A reflection flips the pre-image across some line. A rotation spins the pre-image around a point. A dilation either expands or shrinks the pre-image. Find the difference between the coordinates of the center of dilation and the coordinates of each corner of the pre-image.

Similarity :-

Reflection and translation both are rigid motions and thus create congruent images ( Rigid motion creates congruent images ) such that the shape and size doesn't change.

Difference :- Reflection toss a figure across a line of reflection produces mirror image of the it on xy plane. It changes the orientation of the original figure.

On the other hand, translation moves a figure about some distance in a certain direction on xy plane. But orientation remains the same.
