You replace the value in the parentheses for the x:s in the function. For part b you do 3 squared (9) times -3 which is -27. Then you substitute 3 for x in the next term, 2x which gives you 6. Adding -27 and 6 you get -21. Follow the same reasoning for part c and you get a squared times -3 and add to that 3a since you change out the x for the a.
