so I don't understand how I'm supposed to find the pattern rule. all I know is figure 2=6 tiles and figure 5=15 tiles. but I need to find a rule for the pattern. I don't even know what the pattern is​

As an equation this would be y=3x where y represents number of tiles and x represents the figure number.

Explanation:

Figure 2 gives 6 tiles.

Figure 5 gives 15 tiles.

You should see that 2(3)=6 and 5(3)=15.

So the pattern I see is to get the number of tiles you just need to multiply the figure number by 3.

As an equation this would be y=3x where y represents number of tiles and x represents the figure number.
