The balanced chemical equation for the oxidation of diamond i.e. carbon is as follows -

C (s) + O₂ (g) → CO₂ (g)

The allotropic form of carbon is diamond .

Allotropic forms are basically the arrangement of the atoms in a different fashion . In the structure of diamond the carbon atoms are arranged to form a tetrahedral structure .

Hence burning of diamond is the same as burning of carbon .
