given a quadratic equation in standard form

ax² + bx + c = 0

then the product of the roots =
(c)/(a)

ax² - 6x - 6 = 0 ← in standard form

with c = - 6

then


(-6)/(a) = 4 ( multiply both sides by a )

- 6 = 4a ( divide both sides by 4 )


(-6)/(4) =
(-3)/(2) = - 1.5 = a
