Explanation:

a)x+ 4/y

=2 + 4/1

=2+4

=6

b)x+ 4/y

=1+4/5

1 can also be written as 5/5

= 5/5 + 4/5

= 9/5

=1.8( let me tell u sn essy method to divide 9 by 5)

9/5 = 18/10 when doubled and has the ratio 1:2

so 18/10 =1.8 = 9/5

Answer:

(a) = 6

(b) = 1 4/5

Explanation:

Plug in the corresponding number to the corresponding variables.

Solve for (a). Plug in 2 for x, and 1 for y:

x + 4/y

(2) + 4/(1)

Remember to follow PEMDAS. First solve the division, then add:

2 + (4/1) = 2 + 4 = 6

6 is your answer for (a).

Solve for (b). Plug in 1 for x, and 5 for y:

x + 4/y

(1) + 4/(5)

Solve.

1 + 4/5 = 1 4/5

1 4/5 is your answer.
