Hi!

Solution:

1. You have to move the decimal point until you have a number that is between 1 and 10.

2. Then add a power of 10, which would tell you how many decimal places you moved.

_______________________________

In your case:

78,000,000 —> you would move the

decimal point 7 times to the left and

your new number will be 7.8 ( which is

between 1 and 10.

Since you moved 7 places to the left,

your power of 10 will be 10^7 or 10 to the

7th power.

Your Answer: 7.8 x 10^7

Hope this helps!

Answer:

7.8×10⁷

Explanation:

You want to keep the coefficient (7.8) between 1 and 10 to achieve a normalized notation. Otherwise 78×10⁶ would also be an option.
