There were 450 tickets purchased for a major league baseball game. the general admission tickets cost $6.50 and the upper box tickets cost $10.00. The total amount of money spent was $4237.50. How many of each kind of ticket were sold?

So you first pretend they were all the general admission tickets which is

450x6.50$=2925$ So the number is 4237.50$-2925$=1312.50$ away from the actual price. The price difference between the two is 10.00$-6.50$= 3.50$

Then you put the total price difference 1312.50$ and divide by 3.50$ then you get the amount of upper box tickets. 1312.50$/3.50$=375( Amount of Upper box. So now you know how many upper box were bought. You take it away from 450 tickets sold. 450-375=75

375x10=3750$

75x6.5=487.5$

3750$+487.5$=4237.5$
