Explanation:

Both the flagpole and the building are expierencing the sun at the same angle of elevation from the ground

So calculate the angle of elevation from the ground...we use the flagpole's measurements

tan theta = 40/9.4

where theta is the angle of elevation...

theta = tan^-1(40/9.4) = 77°

So to calculate the height of the building...we use the angle

tan (77°) = height/47

Height = 47 tan (77°)

The height of the building = 321 feet long
