Answer:

$1,145,000

$235,000

Explanation:

Ness won $2,000,000 in state lottery.

He paid 31% of her winnings to taxes.

Remaining amount = 2,000,000 - ( 31% × 2,000,000)

= 2,000,000 - ( 0.31 × 2,000,000)

= 2,000,000 - 620,000

= $1,380,000

Let x amount invested in 5.6% interest

and y invested in 4.3% interest.

x + y = 1,380,000

(5.6)/(100)x+(4.3)/(100)y=74,225

5.6x + 4.3y = 7,422,500

5.6(x+y) - 5.6(1,380,000)

y =
(5.6(1,380,000)-7,422,500)/(1.3)

y = $235,000

x = 1,380,000 - 235,000

x = $1,145,000

Ness invested in 5.6% account = $1,145,000

and in 4.3% account = $235,000
