Answer:

( x ,y ) = ( 8 , 22 )

( x , y ) = ( 22 , 8 )

Explanation:

Let 1st no. be x and second no. be y

Given :- sum of the nos. is 30

x + y = 30 ... ( i )

also, their product is 176

xy = 176 ... ( ii )

putting value of x from ( i ) in ( ii )

( 30 - y )y = 176

30y - y² = 176

y² - 30y + 176 = 0

y² - 22y - 8y + 176 = 0

y ( y - 22 ) - 8 ( y - 22 ) = 0

( y - 22 ) ( y - 8 ) = 0

• y - 22 = 0

y = 22

also,

• y - 8 = 0

y = 8

So, for y = 22 , x = 30 - y = 8

for ,y = 8 , x = 22
