For a relationship to be considered abusive, there must be impoverishment in one person's life, to the point where she loses her personality, loses her freedom, turns away from her friends, and always justifies the other's behavior to herself and others.

Michelle is going through an abusive marriage and so her husband totally controls her. Ideally Michelle would seek help out of this situation, however, as her husband controls everything she does, if he knows she is using the Internet to locate community resources that might help her, he might try to hurt her, or do worse thing.
