Starting from the front door of your ranch house, you walk 60.0 m due east to your windmill, and then you turn around and slowly walk 40.0 m west to a bench where you sit and watch the sunrise. It takes you 28.0 s to walk from your house to the windmill and then 43.0 s to walk from the windmill to the bench. For the entire trip from your front door to the bench, what is your average velocity?

Answer:0.281 m/s

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

First person walks 60 m east and it takes 28 sec

then he slowly turns to walk towards 40 m and it takes him 43 sec

Average\ velocity =(displacement)/(time taken)

V_(avg)=(20)/(71)=0.281 m/s

Thus average velocity during entire trip is 0.281 m/s.

Average speed will be different than average velocity as speed takes in account of distance.
