x + 2y = 10 → (1)

y = 4x - 22 → (2)

Substitute y = 4x - 22 into (1)

x + 2(4x - 22) = 10 ← distribute and simplify left side

x + 8x - 44 = 10

9x - 44 = 10 ( add 44 to both sides )

9x = 54 ( divide both sides by 9 )

x = 6

Substitute x = 6 into (2) for corresponding value of y

y = (4 × 6) - 22 = 24 - 22 = 2

Solution is (6, 2 )
