Sure, I wish things had turned out differently for me in

Vietnam. But I know things could have turned out worse,
too. So I just try to be thankful for what I do have and do
my best to be independent. I can dress myself and even tie
a tie. No more playing guitar, though. If I close my eyes, I
can just about hear the music. Just strumming my
heartstrings is what I'm doing, I suppose.
How could the author best resolve this situation to create a feeling of somber
regret?
O

Answer:

The author could best resolve this situation to create a feeling of somber regret as the narrator mentions a friend who did not live through the war.

Step-by-step explanation:

This excerpt shows how a person who has survived a war feels, and the first lines show that he is making reference to the ones who stayed behind as he says " I know things could have turned out worse," he mentions he is back home and he is able to have some level of independence while others, some of his friend are not even alive.
