-2(3z+1)-10=4
-2(3z+1)=14
-6z-2=14
-6z=16
16/-6 = -.375

First way (no distribution)
-2(3z + 1) -10 = 4
-2(3z + 1) = 14
3z + 1 = -7
3z = -8
z = -8/3
Second way (with distribution)
-2(3z) - 2(1) - 10 = 4
-6z - 2 - 10 = 4
-6z = 16
z = 16/-6 = -8/3
z = 26/-6
