You are making cookies for a large party and need to triple the recipe. (You do this

quite often.) Make a new recipe card, for a triple batch, to put in your recipe box.

Original Recipe
1 1/4 cups peanut butter
1 2/3 cups sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 1/2cups flour
1/4 cups butter
1 1/2 tsp vanilla

Answer:

Here's what I get.

Explanation:

To triple this recipe, you must know that

3 × ¼ = ¾

3 × ⅔ = ⁶/₃ = 2

3 × ½ = ³/₂ = 1½

Then the triple recipe will read

\begin{array}{llll}1(3)/(4) & \text{cups} & \text{peanut butter}&\\5 & \text{cups} & \text{sugar}& 3 * 1(2)/(3) = 3 + 2\\1(1)/(2) & \text{tsp} & \text{salt}&\\7(1)/(2)& \text{cups} & \text{flour}& 3 * 2(1)/(2) = 6 + 1(1)/(2) \\\,(3)/(4) & \text{cup} & \text{butter}&\\4(1)/(2) & \text{tsp} & \text{vanilla}&3 * 1(1)/(2) = 3 + 1(1)/(2)\\\end{array}
