A ladder leaning against a wall makes a 60 degree angle with the ground. The base of the ladder is 4 m from the building. How high above the ground is the top of the ladder?

In the triangle formed by the ladder, we have


\tan60^\circ=\frac x4

where
x is the height of the top of the ladder. Then


x=4\tan60^\circ=\boxed{4\sqrt3}
