Answer:

k = 6.5

Explanation:

The equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y- intercept )

y = 2x + c ← is in this form

From the graph the line crosses the y- axis at - 3 ⇒ c = - 3, thus

y = 2x - 3 ← is the equation of the line

The y- coordinate of the required point is 10, so

Substitute y = 10 into the equation and solve for x

2x - 3 = 10 ( add 3 to both sides )

2x = 13 ( divide both sides by 2 )

x =
(13)/(2) = 6.5

Hence k = 6.5
