A domain is the taxonomic category that lies above the kingdom. There are three domains – bacteria, archaea and eukarya. However, there are five kingdoms – monera, Protista, fungi, plantae and Animalia.

Monera includes the prokaryotic organism like bacteria while from Protista to Animalia are the eukaryotes and its example are plants, fungi like slime moulds, protist like diatoms, Animalia like animals and humans. Both Domain and Kingdom classifies organism and separates eukaryotic and prokaryotic organism.
