-8=-(x+4)

Pretend that there is a -1 in front of the bracket.

Multiply the bracket by -1

(-1)(x)(-1)(4)

-8=-x-4

Move -4 to the other side. Sign changes from -4 to +4.

-8+4=-x-4+4

-4=-x

Multiply both sides by -1 to get +x.

-4(-1)=(-x)(-1)

x=4

Answer: x=4

Answer:

x = 4

Explanation:

First u need to distribute the -1 to (x + 4), creating the equation, -8 = -x - 4. Then add the -4 to both sides, and you get, -4 = -x. Then divide by -1 to both sides, and x = 4.
