Explanation:

Given that the ages of 3 brothers are represented by consecutive integers. Let the ages of 3 brothers be x-1, x and x+1 in ascending order.

Oldest brother's age
= x+1

Twice the younger brother's age =
2(x-1) = 2x-2

When the above is decreased by twice younger brother age we get


x+1-(2x-2) = x+1-2x+2\\=-x+3

Result is -x+3
