3x - 8 = 22

8x +5 = 45

7x + 1 = 22

1 goes to the other side

7x=22 - 1

7x=21

3x - 8 = 22

8 goes to the other side

3x = 22+8

3x=30

x=10

8x+5 = 45

5 goes to the other side

8x=40

x=40/8

x=5
