2/9x-1/3=-1

Move -1/3 to the other side. Sign changes from -1/3 to +1/3.

2/9x-1/3+1/3=-1+1/3

2/9x=-1+1/3

Find the common denominator for -1 which is 3. Multiply the numerator and denominator by 3. (-1)(3)/1(3)=-3/3

2/9x=-3/3+1/3

2/9x=-2/3

Multiply both sides by 9/2.

2/9(9/2)x=-2/3(9/2)

Cross out 2 and 9, divide by 2 and 9 then becomes x.

Cross out -2 and 2, divide by 2 and then becomes -1.

Cross out 3 and 9, divide by 3 and then becomes 3.

-1*3=-3

Answer: x=-3
