Answer:

(2x-1)(x+3)

Explanation:

the way I factor is the sum of the products of a*c = b, so -3*2 is -6. the products of -6 that equal 5 is 6 and -1. replace it in the equation. 2x^2+6x-1x-3. factor out each half 2x(x+3) and -1(x+3). now we take the repeated factor and outside factor to get (2x-1)(x+3)

Answer: (2x - 1)(x + 3)

Step-by-step explanation: Note all the different ways that the factors of -3 can be arranged when you're setting up your list of possible answers to this problem.

-3 factors as +3 · -1 or those factors in reverse order, -1 · +3.

It also factors as -3 · +1 or those factors in reverse order, +1 · -3.

So you will end up with four pairs of binomials to choose from when you're trying to figure out which one represents your answer.

In the second pair of binomials which I have attached in the image provided, the product of the outer terms is 6x and the product of the inner terms is -1x and these add to 5x which matches up with the middle term in the original trinomial. So our answer is (2x - 1)(x + 3).
