A recipe calls for 2 cups of milk for every 6 1/4 cups of flour. If you increase the flour to 43 3/4 cups, how many cups of milk will you use?

First you must convert 1/4 to a decimal which is 0.25 then multiply that by 6= 1.5, so for every 1.5 cup of flour, you add 2 cups of milk basically.
If you increase the flower to 43 3/4, you need to again, turn 3/4 into a decimal which is 0.75 and multiply 0.75 by 43 = 32.25, then 32.25 divided by 1.5 = 21.5

CONCLUSION: You will use 21.5 cups of milk!
Hope this helped:))

Answer:

14 cups of milk are required

Explanation:

6\ ^(1)/(4) cups of flour =
6+ (1)/(4)=6.25 cups of flour

43\ ^(3)/(4) cups of flour =
43+(3)/(4)=43.75 cups of flour

We know that for every 6.25 cups of flour, 2 cups of milk are required.

So we use this as a conversion factor:

(2\ cups\ of\ milk)/(6.25\ cups\ of\ flour)

If for every 6.25 cups of flour, 2 cups of milk are required, then for 43.75 cups of flour, how many cups of milk are required?

43.75\ cups\ of\ flour*(2\ cups\ of\ milk)/(6.25\ cups\ of\ flour)=14\ cups\ of\ milk
