now,

m=rise/run

=Δy/Δx

=(y₂-y₁)/(x₂-x₁)

={-5-(-7}/{-2-(-1)}

={-5+7} / {-2+1} [negative plus negative =positive]

=2/-1

=-2

The formula is y2-y1 divided by x2-x1 So now-5+7divided by -2+1 =2/-1= -2
