205 - 5 = 200
200/2 = 100 copies per hour

Answer:

Old machine can produce 100 copies per hour.

Explanation:

Let the number of copies produced by old machine = x per hour

As per statement given in the question, " new copy machine can produce 5 more than twice the number of copies per hour of the old copy machine".

Number of copies produced by new machine = (2x + 5) copies

New machine produces 205 copies per hour.

Therefore, (2x + 5) = 205 will be the equation.

Now we solve this equation to get the value of x.

2x = 205 - 5

2x = 200

x =
(200)/(2)=100 copies.

Old machine can produce 100 copies per hour.
