we know that

The ratio of quarts of white paint to red paint is


(x)/(y)=(3)/(4)

we know that

if he has 8 quarts of red paint,

using proportion

Find out the quarts of white paint needed


(3)/(4)=(x)/(8)\\\\x=8*3/4\\\\x=6

therefore

The quarts of white paint needed are 6 instead of 7 quarts
