Explanation: A vector is used to take up foreign DNA into host cell. They are used in recombinant DNA technology (for cloning) because they replicate at a high rate, have antibiotic resistant gene and genetic markers that are used for recognition. Most commonly used vectors are E.coli and smaller circular DNA.
