he has 3 choice for bread,2 choices for meat,2 choices for vegetables

and 2 spreads.

A bread can be selected in 3 ways similarly there are 2 choices for meat,vegetables and spreads

So there can be
3* 2* 2*2=24

So there are twenty four ways in which he can make sandwiches for him and his friends.
