Look at the attached picture.

We know that cos c = base/hypotenuse

The value of base is 5

The value of hypotenuse is 5√2

Now plug the values in the formula:

cos c = base /hypotenuse

cos c = 5/5√2

5 will be cancelled out by 5

Then we have the value √2

cos c = √2 ....
