Why is the back work ratio characteristically lower for vapor power systems (less than 2%) compared to gas turbine power systems (40-80%)?

Step-by-step explanation:

Back work ratio:

back\ work\ ratio=(w_c)/(w_t)

We know that back work ratio is the ratio of compressor work (in case of gas turbine) or pump work (in case of steam power plant) to the turbine work.

In steam power plant(vapor power systems) pump work is so small as compare to turbine work so the back work ratio is low in vapor power systems. But on the other hand in gas turbine compressor work is not so small and it is comparable wit the turbine work so so the back work ratio is high in gas turbine.
