Start by using distributive property 4 x 3x and 4 x 2 then -5 x 7x and -5 x 5
Then you would take the total from 4 x 2 and 4 x 3x which equals 12x+8 and subtract it by the total for -5 x 7x and -5 x 5 which equals -35x-25
Next you would combine like terms -35x plus 12x and 8-25
-23x-17 would be your answer

Answer:

-23x - 17

Explanation:

4(3x + 2) - 5(7x + 5) use the distributive property: a(b + c) = ab + ac

= (4)(3x) + (4)(2) + (-5)(7x) + (-5)(5)

= 12x + 8 - 35x - 25 combine like terms

= (12x - 35x) + (8 - 25)

= -23x - 17
