S = 6 * 6 = 36 possible results.

Now, the possible ways to get a double are 6:

By definition the probability of an event is:


P = (Number\ of\ favorable\ results)/(Number\ of\ possible\ results)

Number of favorable results = 6

Number of possible results = 36

Then:


P = (6)/(36)

Simplifying we get:
P = (1)/(6)
