It depends on your standpoint. If you agree they should be banned, you need to come up with at least three reasons why they should be banned

1. Causes pollution, destroying wildlife and the environment.
2. Problematic degradation as it takes millions of years to break down.
3. Better alternatives are available such as paper bags/straws, metal straws, bamboo straws, canvas bags, etc.

If you disagree, you need to find benefits as to why they shouldn't be banned, but managed instead of completely getting rid of them.

1. A multi-use product that paper, which is recommended as a good substitute for plastic, cannot; they're extremely versatile.
2. People with medical disabilities benefit from the use of free plastic straws in restaurants
3. Plastic bags are widely appreciated for their use in wrapping food, and holding water and other wet goods. They are also useful as a protective lining for rubbish bins, as a protective wrap for delicate clothing material, or as a way of temporarily sealing roof and tap leaks.

It all depends on your own viewpoint. Once you have your argument, you need to acknowledge the other side and then bring up a flaw in their argument that supports yours.
