You are recreating a scale drawing at a different scale. The original scale is 1 cm : 4 m. The new scale is 1 cm : 8 m. In the original drawing, the length of a segment is 6 centimeters. How long should the segment representing the same distance be in the new drawing?

You can set up a proportion.

(1)/(8)=(6)/(x)

Now cross multiply.

1x=48

Solve

x=48
