∑ Hey, shanellmccullough ⊃

Answer:

Length of a rectangle is 45 cm

Width of a rectangle is 9 cm

Explanation:

Given:

The length of a rectangle is five times its width. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 108 cm, find its length and width.

Solve:

Let the width of a rectangle be "x".

Which "x" is a variable (what we don't know)

Thus, the length of a rectangle is 5 × x.

P = Perimeter

Hence,

P = 2 × (x+5x)

P = 108

( x + 5x ) = 6x

108 =2 × 6x { 2 × 6x = 12 x)

108=12x

Divide both parts of the equation by 12:

108/12 = 12x/12

x = 9 cm

5 × 9 cm = 5 × x {Length of a rectangle is 5 times its width}

45 cm=5x

Therefore;

Length of a rectangle is 45 cm

Width of a rectangle is 9 cm
