Aman left one-half of her property to his daughter, one-third to his son and donated the rest to an educational institute. If the donation was worth Rs 100000, how much money did Aman have?

Explanation:

Let the original amount be X

Amount given to daughter = (1/2) X = X/2

Amount given to son = (1/3) X = X/3

donation = Rs 100,000

Total amount = Amount Given to Daughter + Amount given to Son + Donation

X = X/2 + X/3 + 100,000 (solve for X)

X = (5/6)X + 100,000

X - (5/6)X = 100,000

(1/6)X = 100,000

X = (6) (100,000)

x = Rs 600,000
