Answer:

P(not choose a blue marble) = 28/45 = 0.622

Explanation:

The probability that an event of a total of possible probable cases will occur is equal to the ratio between the number of occurrences of said event (favorable cases) and the total number of possible cases. It is given by the equation:

P(A) = number of favorable outcomes/total number of outcomes

The bags contain 12 red marbles, 11 green marbles, 17 blue marbles and 5 yellow marbles. So, the total number of marbles is:

Total number of marbles = 12 + 11 + 17 + 5 = 45 (This is the total number of outcomes)

For this case, we want to know the probability that you won't choose a blue marble. So, we have to subtract the number of blue marbles from the total number of marbles:

Total number of marbles - number of blue marbels = 45 - 17 = 28 (number of favorables outcome)

The probability that you won't choose a blue marble is:

P(not choose a blue marble) = 28/45 = 0.622 or 62.2%

Hello! The answer to your question woulds be as followed:

We have to find how many marbles are in total first

12 + 11 + 17 + 5

= 45

Since we want to find the probability that you will NOT choose a blue marble, we have to find how many aren't blue

12 + 11 + 5

= 28

We have a probability out of 48 now, therefore

28/48 would be our fraction,

To simplify:

7/12 or about 58.33%
