The numeretor of a fraction is 5 less than the denominator. If 9 is added to both numeretor and denomenator , it becomes 2/3 . Find the fraction

The fraction will be


(1)/(6)

By simple process of elimination and by working backwards you know that the final fraction must be equal to


(2)/(3)

therefore, by experimentation, you find that the final fraction must be


(10)/(15)

for 9 to be successfully added to both numerator and denominator. if you take 9 from both, you are given


(1)/(6)

which fits with the numerator being 5 less than the denominator making this the fraction
