1) In order to find the area of the green figure you must first look at it in terms of two rectangles(A big rectangle covered by the green space and a small rectangle covered by the white space):

Multiply the length and width of the green rectangle(24 x 20)

l * w = 480

Then multiply the length and width of the white rectangle(14 * 15)

l * w = 210

2) Now to gain the total area of the green figure, subtract the area of the green rectangle from the white rectangle:

480 - 210 = 270
