Lewis is a city planner who has been fascinated by the development of Sarasota, Florida. He believes that in the future, an increasing number of cities will look like Sarasota, where more than 30 percent of the population is over age 65. His friend, who works in Detroit, wonders how Lewis is so sure that the American population will rise. Lewis admits that, of course, the future cannot be predicted. However, all of the following explain why the median age of the U.S. population will probably increase in coming decades EXCEPT for:

-declining fertility.
-longer life expectancies.
-an expected rise in immigration.
-the large baby boom generation reaching old age.

The factor that does not explain why the median age of the U.S. population will probably increase in coming decades is: An expected rise in immigration.

What does immigration do?

Immigration typically contributes to a younger population demographic, as newcomers are often in younger age brackets.

The other three factors listed—declining fertility, longer life expectancies, and the large baby boom generation reaching old age—are all significant contributors to an increasing median age in the population.

Declining fertility rates mean fewer births, longer life expectancies mean people are living longer

Answer:except declining fertility

Explanation:If one is talking about a possible increase in population declining fertility can not be the reason because that may mean fewer births which may result to fewer people in that country or declining population number .
