To subtract unlike fractions, such as
(4)/(7) -
(2)/(3), first we need to find a common denominator. The common denominator of 7 and 3 is the least common multiple of 7 and 3 which is 21.

Notice that both of the fractions do not have 21 in their denominator, so we will have to get 21 in the denominator for both fractions.
