The bottom of a box is to be a rectangle with a perimeter of 36 CM. The Box must be for me centimeters high. What dimensions give the maximun volume?

a. l = 14 cm, w = 4 cm
b. l= 9 cm, w= 9 cm
c. l = 12 cm, w= 6 cn

The maximum is always obtained when a square is used for some part of a rectangular prism. That would mean the bottom of the box would be 9 by 9. because those dimensions would give a square. Suppose that me which I take to be the height or h = 5.

The maximum volume would be 9*9*5 = 405 cubic units.

Does D come closer?

V = l * w * h

V = 8*10*5

V = 400 cubic units which is less than 405.
