Describe the translation of f(x) = [x].

Explanation:

Translations are just adding or subtracting. Vertical movements are shown as adding or subtracting outside of the function, so something like x^2+1 would move it up 1. (x+1)^2 would be "inside" the function. Inside also tells when you move the function left or right. It's important to remember though that up is + and down is -, which makes sense. but for left and right it's flipped, so -1 moves it right and +1 moves it left. or more specifically (x-1)^2 moves x^2 to the right by 1 and (x+1)^2 moves x^2 to the left by 1.

With that all in mind I will just use f(x) to represent the function and write the subtractions and additions as needed.

1) f(x-3)+5

2) (f(x-5)+3

3) f(x-5)-3

4( f(x-3)-5
