Significance level :
1-0.99=0.01

Critical value :
z_(\alpha/2)=2.576

Margin of error :
E=8

Standard deviation :
\sigma= 14

The formula to find the sample size : -


n=((z_(\alpha/2)\ \sigma)/(E))


\Rightarrow\ n=(((2.576)(14))/(8))^2=20.322064\approx20

Hence, the minimum reasonable sample size for a real world calculation must be 20
