To answer this question you must use Pythagorean theorem


a^(2) +b^(2)=c^(2)

a and b are the legs (the sides that form a perpendicular/right angle)

c is the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle)

In this case...

a = 5

b = 14

c = unknown

^^^Plug these numbers into the theorem


5^(2) +14^(2) =c^(2)

solve for c

25 + 196 = c²

221 = c²

c = √221

c ≈ 14.7
