In a genetics experiment on peas, one sample of offspring contained 376 green peas and 117 yellow peas. Based on those results, estimate the probability of getting an offspring pea that is green. Is the result reasonably close to the value of 3 divided by 4 that was expected?

Answer:

Explanation:

Given that in a genetics experiment on peas, one sample of offspring contained 376 green peas and 117 yellow peas.

Total no of peas = 376+117=493

No of green peas = 376

Probability of selecting a green pea =
(376)/(493) =0.7627

Yes it is reasonably close to 3/4 = 0.75 since difference is only 0.0127 negligible.
