As an instructor is preparing for an experiment, he requires 225 phosphoric acid. The only container readily available is a 150-mL Erlenmeyer flask. Is it large enough to contain the acid, whose density is 1.83 g/mL?

Answer: Yes it is large enough to store the acid.

Explanation:

Density is defined as the mass contained per unit volume.


Density=(mass)/(Volume)

Given : Mass of acid = 225 grams

Density of acid =
1.83g/ml

Putting in the values we get:


Volume=(mass)/(density)


Volume=(225g)/(1.83g/ml)=123ml

Thus volume of the acid is
123ml and thus Erlenmeyer flask with volume of 150 ml is enough to contain the acid.
